So I work in an office environment.... the sea of endless cubes with a few offices scattered in around the perimeter. Like in a lot of office settings people call a lot of meetings. Some of those meetings are meetings to talk about upcoming meetings. Anyway, over a few years of attending these meetings about this that and the other, I have noticed some very definite patterns with peoples' drinking habits...I will touch on three of the main categories below.
First there is the Diet Coke drinker. This person constantly has a 20 oz. Diet Coke that they will never take more than a sip out of before they put it down and screw on the cap as tight as they can. Two seconds later they are unscrewing the cap for another pea size swig. What is that about? Take a few good gulps and leave it for five or so minutes!
Secondly there are the Mt. Dew drinkers. They come in all shapes and sizes. Literally just yesterday I was passing a conference room with a lady sitting in there all by herself and she was literally downing her 20 oz. Mt. Dew. Guzzling! Another guy had one of those HUGE mugs that was bigger than his face! When I asked him what was in it he sheepishly said Mt. Dew! I wanted to shout at him "Good God Man are you trying to kill yourself!" These Dew drinkers can rarely drink in moderation. Now I am a dew drinker, but luckily will drink no more than 20 oz. in a day. Could be because I am breastfeeding and I don't want my daughter to be amped up all day otherwise who knows, I too could be sucked into the black hole of never getting enough of the Dew!
Finally, and the most common of all... the coffee cup clingers. These are the people who carry their coffee mug with them to all meetings, to the bathroom, really where ever they need to go. Now I am not talking mug like a ceramic mug, I am talking usually stainless steel tall mug. In meetings they too take little sips of whatever is in their mug or in most cases they just sit there with both hands wrapped around it. That is not the worst part.... the worst part is that when they are not drinking out of the cup they are fiddling with the mouth piece... open and close, open and close. These people are also notorious for leaving their mugs at their last stop only to rush back like they were 2 years old and dropped their teddy bear praying someone did not snatch it up. Then on to the next meeting they go where the cycle will only repeat itself.
